Lincoln School Committee approves OMR contract amendments for survey, PCB testing

LINCOLN -- February 10, 2012, Lincoln School Committee approves OMR amendments and reviews 65 percent schematic design. The committee voted unanimously Feb. 10 to approve Amendment No. 5 to the OMR design contract for $12,650 in topographic land surveying and Amendment No. 6 for a not-to-exceed $3,465 in limited PCB testing at the Lincoln School site, both funded from a previously appropriated additional-services line. The superintendent walked the committee through revised schematic-design drawings, including a swapped engineering and foreign-language classroom, a redesigned cafeteria entry, and a retained story room, emerging from four days of user-group meetings; the design will lock at 65 percent this week. Members discussed Lexington's Estabrook School, where airborne PCBs ultimately led to a $43 million MSBA replacement, as a cautionary precedent. The committee also approved $774,467.47 in warrants ($628,716.71 payroll, $145,750.76 accounts payable) and adjourned into executive session to prepare for superintendent contract negotiations.
