Lincoln Select Board accepts capped COVID cost clause in school project GMP

LINCOLN — April 20, 2020 — Lincoln Select Board accepts $425,000 cap on COVID-19 cost-sharing in school construction contract. Chair Jennifer Glass reported on April 20 that the School Building Committee finalized a Guaranteed Maximum Price with Consigli Construction that lets the contractor apply COVID-related costs to its own $1.7 million contingency and, if exhausted, seek reimbursement of up to 25 percent — $425,000 — from the project. Glass called it the "kind of deal where no one is entirely happy," noting other regional projects lack any cap. The SBC also finalized a power purchase agreement with SunPower for a 1.4-megawatt PV system with 500 kilowatts of battery backup. Public health nurse Trish McGeehan reported 25 confirmed cases, two deaths, three hospitalizations and nine active home-isolation cases. The town carries a separate $4.3 million owner's contingency. Town Administrator Tim Higgins said the May 11 go/no-go decision on the May 30 town meeting remains on track.
