Planning Board approves Codman pavilion, unveils three new MBTA zoning options

LINCOLN — October 24, 2023 — Lincoln rolls out three new MBTA Communities zoning options as December straw poll nears. The Planning Board, Select Board and Housing Choice Act Working Group jointly reviewed options D1 (636 modeled units including a new Lincoln North sub-district), D2 (784 units including Battle Road Farm) and D3 (749 units, eliminating the Codman Road sub-district), alongside the original option C at 639 units. Select Board member Jennifer Glass confirmed a Dec. 2 paper ballot will include a "none of the above" choice. Working group member Rachel Drew warned that relying on Battle Road Farm — where redevelopment would require unanimous condo-owner approval — "signals that we are merely checking a box." Earlier, the Planning Board voted 3-0, with member Margaret Olson recused, to approve a 20-by-40-foot educational pavilion at Codman Community Farms.
