Planning Board endorses Select Board name change, clears Page Farm Road fence

LINCOLN — May 11, 2021 — Lincoln Planning Board endorses Select Board renaming and a 3 Page Farm Road fence ahead of Saturday Town Meeting. The board voted 5-0 to back a warrant article striking "Board of Selectmen," "Selectman" and "Selectmen" from town bylaws and inserting "Select Board" and "Select Board member," with authority for the town clerk to gender-neutralize related language. Citizens petitioner Peter von Mertens said the effort has been pending since before COVID; Kim Bodner noted "90-some towns" in the Commonwealth have already made the switch. Margaret Olson will carry the board's endorsement to the Town Meeting floor. The board also approved 5-0 a 330-foot, 3.5-foot black aluminum and split-rail fence for homeowners Monica Gruel and Jeffrey Roberti, and endorsed a town-wide postcard mailing for the South Lincoln Village Center survey, with a June 30 deadline.
