Select Board endorses DeCordova pond-side overhaul and seats new IDEA committee

LINCOLN — May 10, 2021 — Lincoln Select Board greenlights DeCordova pond-side redesign and seats seven-member IDEA committee. Cora Jablonski, business director of the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, told the board admissions are up 86 percent year-over-year with more than 100,000 visitors and 8,000 children in 12 months, framing a plan to convert the upper staff parking lot into programmable green space, build an ADA-compliant loop to the Goldsworthy installation and replace the boardwalk with a sidewalk; the board voted 3-0 to endorse subject to Conservation, Water and Planning review. Members then unanimously appointed Gray Birchby, Russell Cramp, Margaret McLaughlin, Jen James, Abby Salon, Deb Wallace and Margaret Griffith to the new Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism Committee. Jonathan Dwyer warned the 2018 community center concepts, priced at $15.3 million and $16.2 million, are likely "closer to $20 million" today against roughly $27 million in available debt capacity. On Paul Schorb's climate resolution, the board voted 3-0 to take no position, with James Craig saying that stance "can certainly be interpreted as not objecting."
