Lincoln School Committee halves LEAP rent, approves five-year Eastern Bus contract

LINCOLN — May 6, 2021 — Lincoln School Committee cuts LEAP rent in half and locks in a five-year MetCo bus deal. Members unanimously approved a one-time 50 percent reduction of after-school provider LEAP's lease to $16,075, with Administrator for Business and Finance Buckner Creel routing the foregone rent through the school rentals revolving fund after LEAP director Katie reported enrollment below half of normal. The same meeting accepted Eastern Bus Co.'s FY22-FY26 transportation rates — the sole bid through MetCo Inc. — which Creel called "truly modest." Members also declared the Ball Field Road modular classrooms surplus effective two days after the last day of school in June 2022. Two Brooks School parents urged a return of content-area teachers to middle school classrooms; parent Lisa Friedman said Lincoln was "ahead of the pack this fall" but "behind the pack now."
