Planning Board recommends second curb cut at 59 Oxbow Road for accessory apartment

LINCOLN — June 11, 2024 — Lincoln Planning Board clears second Oxbow curb cut and seeds tree-protection study subcommittee. The board voted unanimously on June 11 to recommend that the Select Board grant Heather and Dennis Malkov a 12-foot second curb cut at 59 Oxbow Road to serve a new garage and 1,200-square-foot accessory apartment, citing safety improvements on a stretch where vehicles currently back into multiple intersections. Co-Chair Lynn DeLisi handed off leadership of the long-promised tree-protection effort to volunteer Susan Hall Mygatt, who will return July 9 with a proposed subcommittee membership; Co-Chair Margaret Olson will represent the board. Resident Vicki pressed for an interim cutting restriction, saying trees are being lost "by the dozen or the hundreds every single month," but Olson said any new regulation requires a two-thirds town meeting vote and full public process. Olson also opened discussion of replacing Lincoln's two-and-a-half-story zoning definition, which she said forces flat-roofed modern homes "to sprawl across the landscape."
