Lincoln School Committee approves two union contracts and Hanscom cost working group

LINCOLN — June 13, 2024 — Lincoln School Committee closes year with two union contracts, proficient rating for superintendent and Hanscom cost working group. The committee unanimously ratified three-year agreements with the Education Support Professionals unit and, separately, a first-ever contract with food service workers under AFSCME Council 93 Local 1703, raising wages and adding a sick-leave bank. Superintendent Perry Graham received an overall rating of proficient, with one member writing she is "thoroughly impressed by Perry's performance." Members also established a working group on three Collins Center recommendations, including review of the town's roughly $71,000-per-year indirect-cost charge to the Hanscom contract and the OPEB and pension allocation methodology. Public comment was dominated by parents urging the district to abandon three-cueing reading methods; former reading teacher Kate Bruner said her family is leaving Lincoln, telling the committee, "We have lost faith in the Lincoln schools to deliver this."
