Select Board approves Donelan's sale to Patel family, ending 45-year run

LINCOLN — June 7, 2021 — Lincoln Select Board approves Donelan's sale to the Patel family after 45 years of family ownership. The board voted unanimously June 7 to amend the retail beer-and-wine license, transferring stock to Mahanbhai Patel (50 percent), Gopal Patel (president, treasurer and clerk) and other family members (20 and 10 percent). Kathleen Roth, Donelan's beer-and-wine director since 2000, will be the named license manager; Jack Donelan stays on temporarily as director. Attorney Alex Parra characterized the deal as "continuity." Gopal Patel told the board, "We are bringing a new energy to the company." The board also approved license amendments for the Commons of Lincoln tied to a Key Bank loan payoff, proclaimed June 19 Juneteenth in Lincoln with bells to ring at 4 p.m., and confirmed roughly $2 million in incoming ARPA funds.
