Planning Board adds anti-racism plank to South Lincoln advisory committee charge

LINCOLN — May 25, 2021 — Lincoln Planning Board adds inclusionary language to South Lincoln advisory committee's charge. The board voted 4-0 on May 25 to amend the South Lincoln Planning Advisory Committee charge with language proposed by SLPAC member Rachel Drew requiring the committee to "ensure a wide range of perspectives are considered and represented," including from "historically marginalized populations not already represented in the conversation." Co-Chair Gary Taylor said the amendment grew out of three anti-racism training sessions in which roughly 120 residents and staff participated. Co-Chair Lynn DeLisi called the wording "very timely and good." Taylor also reported 581 responses to the South Lincoln planning survey, more than double the 250-to-300 typical for town surveys. In a separate 3-1 vote, the board approved a 175-foot fence at 4 Garland Road on the condition the material be cedar, not the white vinyl the applicant had sought.
