Planning Board approves 10-year Verizon tower renewal and Old Concord Road site plan

LINCOLN — October 12, 2021 — Lincoln Planning Board renews Verizon tower for 10 years and splits on village-center survey. The board unanimously approved a 10-year special permit renewal for the Verizon facility at the Tracey's gas station tower, conditioned on a written statement that no FAA correspondence exists, and approved a companion equipment modification adding six antennas and six remote radio heads at the 56-foot centerline. Members also approved a site plan for an addition at 263 Old Concord Road and heard from a Climate Action Planning Subcommittee urging a town-wide plan and dedicated sustainability staff, with member Stacy Montori citing more than 65 documented gas leaks in town. The board then divided sharply over the South Lincoln village-center survey, with Bob Domnitz saying roughly 80 percent of respondents backed retaining commercial businesses against only about 40 percent for added housing and warning that board and town priorities are "not aligned well." Co-Chair Gary Taylor countered that the survey reflected a messaging failure, not rejection of housing.
