Hanscom panel tables minutes, presses Massport on ICE camera plan
Hanscom Field Advisory Commission · Meeting of September 15, 2026
LINCOLN — Hanscom Field panel presses Massport for a specific ICE-observation plan and vets JSX's 2027 Bedford flight pitch. Massport Airport Director Chris Willenberg told the commission recording is allowed in public, non-restricted areas but denied a camera-installation request, prompting member Christopher Eliot to propose observer groups submit an exact map of camera locations for Air Force and Massport sign-off: "Massport shouldn't, shouldn't be deciding what the Air Force is concerned about," he said. JSX Air's John Chausse pitched scheduled Bedford service starting January 2027, projecting 1,914 annual departures, roughly 39,600 enplanements and 12 new station jobs on 30-seat Embraer jets.
August noise-disturbance complaints spiked to 1,160, mostly from one Lexington household, prompting member Barbara Katzenberg to push noise reports to a bimonthly format. The commission tabled its August 11 minutes over a vote-tally dispute and adjourned 5-0.
