Lincoln boards appoint Abby Salah to fill School Committee vacancy

LINCOLN — December 12, 2024 — Lincoln joint boards appoint veteran teacher Abby Salah to fill School Committee vacancy on 7-0 vote. The School Committee and Select Board interviewed two candidates Thursday under MGL Chapter 41, Section 11 — Salah, a 21st-year classroom teacher with a master's in administration, and Kenneth Lepage, a business executive and former Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity board member. Chair Matina Madrick said the committee was weighing "two real holes" it expects after March: legal/policy fluency, as Vice Chair Kim is not seeking reelection, and current classroom and equity experience. Select Board member Jim Hutchinson urged the committee not to "sweat" the appointment because both candidates said they would run in March. Salah was nominated by member Susan Taylor and seconded by Madrick; she serves until the March town election, when two seats are now expected on the ballot.
