Lincoln moves Lincoln School graduation to Friday June 21, Hanscom holds Monday

LINCOLN — April 4, 2013 — Lincoln School Committee reelects Glass as chair and moves graduation to Friday June 21. The committee voted 4-0 with one abstention to shift the Lincoln School graduation from Wednesday June 26 to Friday June 21, with the Hanscom Middle School ceremony still on Monday June 24, after Assistant Superintendent Mary Sterling reported "quite a bit of feedback" from families with conflicts in the last week of school. Member Tim called Friday "the preferable solution"; member Ben James abstained, citing lack of familiarity. The committee also accepted $1,198 plus two 32-inch LCD TVs from the Lincoln School Foundation, approved warrants of $797,387.65, and launched a roughly $100-per-month single-stream recycling pilot at the Lincoln campus. Members Tom Sanders and Tim presented the district's first annual report to the Finance Committee, showing 84 percent of IEP students in full-inclusion classrooms and arguing Lincoln's costs reflect small class sizes and a broad specials curriculum rather than Metco.
