Lincoln reinstates police chief after 18-month leave
Lincoln Select Board votes 3-0 to reinstate Police Chief Sean Kennedy after an 18-month leave.
Select Board · Meeting of October 1, 2026
Lincoln Select Board votes 3-0 to reinstate Police Chief Sean Kennedy after an 18-month leave. Chair Jim Hutchinson, Jennifer Glass and Kim Bodnar found Kennedy's conduct in a May 10, 2025 incident violated no town or state policy, based on a 57-page report from investigative firm Matthews and Matthews and a September 24, 2026 decision by the state's POST commission to close its case. Town Counsel David Jenkins called the POST outcome "a complete acceptance of what was presented to you." Reinstatement is effective immediately, subject to performance reviews at six and twelve months.
Kennedy, thanking Acting Chief John Wentworth for his leadership during the absence, said he looks forward "to serving the community that I have for 31-plus years."
