Lincoln School Committee accepts Hanscom school plans, reviews 2013 MCAS scores

LINCOLN — October 24, 2013 — Lincoln School Committee accepts Hanscom school plans and reviews mixed 2013 MCAS results. Hanscom Primary Principal Beth Ludwig and Hanscom Middle Principal Erich Ledebuhr presented improvement plans centered on a K-8 learning-targets push and, at the primary school, a new Behavioral, Emotional and Social Support team responding to teacher referrals within a week; both plans were unanimously accepted. The Director of Curriculum and Assessment reported no needs-improvement or warning ELA scores among Lincoln eighth-graders — meeting the federal 100-percent benchmark a year early — but Hanscom grades seven and eight remained below state averages in math, while Hanscom eighth-grade science jumped 23 percentage points to 51 percent proficient or advanced. The district rose from Level 2 to Level 1 under the state PPI. The committee also accepted warrants of $692,618.30 and $275,595.70, recognized Buck Creel as one of only 10 Massachusetts ASBO-certified school business administrators, and learned that 603 Hanscom students should generate $478,901 in additional DDS funding.
