Lincoln School Committee adopts district goals, approves early FY14 budget timeline

LINCOLN — September 6, 2012 — Lincoln School Committee adopts district goals and opens an unusually early FY14 budget cycle. Members voted unanimously Sept. 6 to accept the goals as amended on a second reading, folding member Tom Sanders' proposed student-engagement and differentiation work into existing work plans rather than creating a stand-alone goal. The committee also approved FY14 budget guidelines and a sole-source Hanscom snow removal contract, citing construction-related uncertainty. Administrator for Business and Finance Buck Creel said Lincoln's early town meeting requires a final budget vote by Jan. 24, with a preliminary presentation in mid-November. Superintendent Becky McFall introduced her state-assigned coach, former Rockport superintendent Rosemary DeJulio, who told members "school committee support of a new superintendent is critical." Lincoln kindergarten enrollment came in at 62 against a projected 45. Warrants of $585,768.98 in payroll and $137,593.29 in accounts payable were approved.
