Lincoln School Committee receives preschool plan, debates core values, defers work plan vote
LINCOLN — October 4, 2012 — Lincoln preschool over-enrolls Lincoln campus as district lands at state Level 2. Preschool Director Lynn Fagan reported the Lincoln campus is over-enrolled at 18 students per classroom while Hanscom morning sessions sit at 15, with Lincoln family enrollment up to roughly 20 from "eight or nine" in past years. The committee debated three draft core values, with member Jen warning that "innovation in teaching and learning" and "collaboration and community" are "somewhat vague" as budget filters. Curriculum Director Mary and Assistant Superintendent Stephanie walked through work plans for four goal areas; members deferred a vote pending edits. Lincoln was classified Level 2 under the state's new Progress and Performance Index — the Lincoln School and Hanscom Primary at Level 1, Hanscom Middle at Level 2 — joining Wayland, Weston, Wellesley, Concord, Bedford and Sudbury. The committee approved warrants of $774,506.55, including $651,771.30 in payroll, on a motion from member Al.
