Lincoln School Committee appoints Peter Borden to vacant seat
LINCOLN — October 9, 2014 — Lincoln School Committee picks Peter Borden to fill vacant seat in 5-1-1 joint vote. The committee and Board of Selectmen, sitting jointly Oct. 9, interviewed six finalists in 15-minute slots before appointing Borden, who cited a career "helping groups navigate through complex change." Members praised Vincent Canestrara's School Building Advisory Committee track record and the public-education backgrounds of Lisa Friedman and Katie Hoag, but the chair said Borden's hard questions about how the committee functions could "help us break things down." The board also asked the EDCO Collaborative to amend its draft articles to require a two-thirds vote before any capital assessment, approved combined warrants of $867,583.73, accepted Class of 2014 gifts totaling $3,600, and adopted the Lincoln School Improvement Plan. Superintendent Becky McFall reported Hanscom's Sept. 30 enrollment at 584, the high end of federal contract band three.
