Lincoln School Committee approves three school improvement plans, names Borden vice chair

LINCOLN -- October 23, 2014, Lincoln School Committee approves three school improvement plans and splits 3-0-2 on scholarship appointment. Interim member Peter Borden was named vice chair and joined Chair Jennifer Glass, Tim Christenfeld and Al Schmertzler in approving improvement plans for the Lincoln Preschool, Hanscom Primary and Hanscom Middle schools, each anchored to formative feedback and cognitive demand work. The committee appointed Barbara Stallings over Sandy Storer to the three-member Lincoln Scholarship Committee, with Christenfeld arguing her international development background brings "something we don't often get an opportunity" to add. Assistant Superintendent Patricia Kinsella reported 96 percent of Lincoln eighth-graders scored proficient or advanced in ELA and 81 percent in math, 30 points above the state. Both campuses dropped from accountability Level 1 to Level 2. The committee approved a $948,170.59 warrant including $717,695.38 in payroll.
