Lincoln School Committee approves LEAP renewal, $10,000 D.C. trip donation, employee enrollments

LINCOLN — April 17, 2025 — Lincoln re-elects Madrick as chair and signs off on a $10,000 D.C. trip donation. The School Committee unanimously returned Matina Madrick to the chair seat for fiscal 2026, named Susan Taylor vice chair, and accepted a $10,000 private donation presented by member Kenneth Lepage for eighth-grade Washington, D.C. trip financial assistance. The board approved 25 employee-children enrollment requests, four of them new, and renewed the LEAP after-school license agreement for 2025-2026 with added phone-line, projector and tables-and-chairs provisions. Administrator for Business and Finance Angela Wang reported a $70,000 surplus in food services through March but flagged a March solar invoice that came in at roughly $18,000 — nearly five times the prior month — which could erode the year-end utility surplus. Assistant Superintendent Torrance Lewis said an accelerated literacy curriculum decision is expected at the end of May, with 23 teachers currently piloting candidate programs.
