Lincoln School Committee Dissolves Building Panel, Sets Town Meeting Outreach Plan
LINCOLN — March 5, 2015 — Lincoln School Committee disbands its School Building Advisory Committee ahead of spring town meeting vote on school construction. The committee voted unanimously Thursday to dissolve the SBAC, which had completed its charge by delivering a final report from architect Doran Whittier, and noted that members could now speak more freely as private citizens before the April town meeting vote on warrant articles 30 and 31. Superintendent Jennifer Gelman said the firm is also preparing a Statement of Interest due April 10, with former SBAC members available to review the draft. The committee separately appointed four residents — Jal Mehta, Kathy Bitter, Nicolette Burrell, and Addie Kim — to a new Class Size Research Review Committee, approved a snow-day makeup plan built from 618 community survey responses, and signed off on warrants totaling $1,718,752.60. A multiboard public forum with the Finance Committee and Capital Planning Committee is set for March 17 to walk residents through the school-building articles before town meeting.
