Lincoln School Committee elects Christenfeld chair, sets up building committee

LINCOLN — April 6, 2017 — Lincoln School Committee elects Christenfeld chair and launches school building committee work. Members elected Tim Christenfeld chair and Peter Borden vice chair on April 6, then spent more than an hour shaping the charge and composition of a new School Building Committee tied to the $750,000 feasibility study Town Meeting approved March 25. Superintendent Becky McFaul won approval to enroll up to 91 METCO students and 33 employee children for 2017-2018, and to set graduation for June 14 at Hanscom and June 15 at Lincoln. Administrator Buck Creel reported 94.2 percent of the Lincoln budget and over 97 percent of the Hanscom budget expended or encumbered, with snow removal at Hanscom running to roughly $50,000 against a $35,000 budget. The committee approved a $1,020,064.07 warrant and adjourned at 10:14 p.m. into executive session on LTA and Hanscom contracts. Christenfeld warned that hiring an owner's project manager alone will demand "probably 40 hours of work over the next three months."
