Lincoln School Committee receives METCO update, approves superintendent's evaluation plan

LINCOLN — November 2, 2023 — Lincoln School Committee gets METCO update, previews accountability blueprint coming this year. METCO Director Marika Hamilton told the committee Nov. 2 that Lincoln enrolls 84 Boston students against a 91-seat cap and is targeting roughly 18 new students for 2024-25, with 11 applicants already ranking Lincoln in their top three. METCO Inc. CEO Milly Arbaje-Thomas said every participating district will soon receive an individualized "HEAT card" scoring its integration practices, and that a self-administered maturity-scale assessment will become a required annual component of the state METCO grant. "Nobody has the full power in METCO," Arbaje-Thomas said, describing the program's voluntary structure and her grassroots effort to get all 33 districts to sign onto roughly 10 baseline standards. The committee also unanimously approved Superintendent Parry Graham's annual evaluation plan and reviewed a draft job description for the next administrator for business and finance, which will post immediately before Thanksgiving.
