Lincoln School Committee sends Pod C roof reallocation to special town meeting

LINCOLN — September 23, 2021 — Lincoln schools route storm-damaged Pod C roof to a November special town meeting and unveil a $170,000 federal aid plan anchored in equity training. The School Committee voted unanimously Sept. 23 to ask the Select Board to add a warrant article reallocating roughly $88,000 in unspent FY20 Hartwell roof funds to the approximately $82,000 Pod C replacement, after Business Administrator Mary Ellen Norman warned the work would otherwise slip to summer 2023. The committee also approved a $26,000 firewall replacement, $60,000 in classroom maintenance including a Hartwell PA system, and warrants totaling $3,608,738.24. In a required public hearing on ESSER III, Superintendent Becky McFall and Assistant Superintendent Jess Rose presented a plan steering roughly $90,000 toward Racial Equity Institute training for all faculty and staff. "Aid work is learning work," McFall said, responding to member Adam Hogue's concern that tutoring was not a named line item. Federal rules require at least $34,000 of the allocation address learning loss; the grant must be filed by Oct. 4.
