Lincoln School Committee to refile MSBA application after Lincoln School rejection

LINCOLN — December 19, 2013 — Lincoln School Committee to refile MSBA statement of interest after rejection, advances Hanscom projects. Superintendent Becky McFaul told the committee Dec. 19 that the Massachusetts School Building Authority had declined to invite the Lincoln School project into this year's funding pipeline, and proposed a joint early-January meeting with the Selectmen, Finance Committee and Capital Planning Committee ahead of the April 11 SOI deadline. Assistant Superintendent Mary Sterling reviewed the 35 percent design for the roughly $32 million, 80,000-square-foot Hanscom Primary School, organized in grade-level "neighborhoods" around shared hubs with a bridge to the middle school. Administrator for Business and Finance Buck Creel said the Hanscom Middle School construction contract has been awarded and that "it's still hunt for construction starting in June," pending Senate passage of the National Defense Authorization Act. Committee member Tom Sanders pressed on whether an MSBA accelerated repair application — roofs, boilers, windows — could run in parallel with the new-building SOI; McFaul said the tracks likely cannot be combined.
