Lincoln school panel previews FY14 budget with $167,000 Hanscom gap

LINCOLN — November 1, 2012 — Lincoln School Committee previews FY14 budget with $167,243 Hanscom gap days before town meeting building vote. Administrator for Student Services Stephanie Power and Assistant Superintendent Mary Sterling presented a preliminary operating budget built on the Finance Committee's 2.5 percent guideline, adding 2.4 net FTEs — a Hanscom third-grade teacher, a Lincoln Middle School English teacher, and 0.4 in support staff — while cutting 1.0 Hanscom custodian for roughly $90,000 in savings tied to the school's move to a 30,000-square-foot temporary facility. Administration is recommending a reserve fund transfer to close the Hanscom gap, driven by an $89,711 EDCO Collaborative assessment increase and at least $112,000 in benefit growth. Superintendent Becky McFall reported the Board of Selectmen voted 2-1 Tuesday to support the school building project, with Peter Braun and Noah Eckhaus speaking in favor; town meeting takes up the article Saturday at 9:30 a.m., preceded by a 9:20 Planning Board meeting. The committee approved $652,782.52 in payroll warrants and $223,193.10 in accounts payable.
