Lincoln School Committee approves single-stream recycling at Hanscom, advances building project funding

LINCOLN — December 20, 2012 — Lincoln School Committee approves single-stream recycling at Hanscom and up to $31,000 for school building project. The committee unanimously voted Dec. 20 to add $3,084 to the FY14 Hanscom budget for single-stream recycling after Hanscom Air Force Base ended free service to tenants, with member Tim Christenfeld moving to begin the program immediately using current-year funds. The committee also approved, over the objection of member Tom, a request to the Finance Committee for up to $31,000 — roughly $28,000 for architect OMR and just over $3,000 for owner's project manager Skanska — to fund community charrettes and design work through a Feb. 6 decision point. Superintendent Becky McCall said the next stage could cost an additional $50,000 and full schematic design $300,000 to $400,000. Members declined to reduce an elementary class section for FY14, with McCall saying she "can't quite create the rationale." Payroll warrants of $680,809.67 and accounts payable of $180,679.70 were approved.
