Lincoln Select Board establishes Housing Choice Working Group in unanimous vote
LINCOLN — October 17, 2022 — Lincoln Select Board establishes Housing Choice Working Group as state MBTA zoning compliance work begins. The board voted 3-0 on Oct. 17 to create the multi-board group, with member Jennifer Glass as liaison and the Planning Board granted two of the seats given its bylaw-drafting role. Town Administrator Tim Higgins said staff already see "concepts that look like they're worth thinking through." Separately, member Jim Hutchinson reported that Lincoln's Green Energy Choice program saved residents about $1.1 million over 18 months even as new supply prices roughly double under the war-driven market; the default renewable mix rises to about 54 percent. The board also opened a second ARPA round for the remaining $297,000 and heard from new state Rep. Carmine Gentile, who said he would refile legislation creating a state senior-center building authority modeled on the MSBA.
