Lincoln Select Board extends ICON Architecture contract for community center construction

LINCOLN — April 16, 2024 — Lincoln Select Board rotates chair to Bodnar and extends architect contract for community center. Member Jennifer Glass nominated Kim Bodnar as chair for the coming year, succeeding Jim Hutchinson in a unanimous 3-0 vote. The board then voted 3-0 to extend ICON Architecture's contract through construction of the planned community center on the unanimous recommendation of the Community Center Building Committee, contingent on price negotiations with Town Administrator Tim Higgins, who said there is "no scenario" under which the fee exceeds the town meeting-approved budget. CCBC co-chair Sarah Chester called ICON's work "exceptional"; committee member Dan Pereira said the project targets a construction award in summer 2025 and completion in summer 2026. Private fundraising has reached $350,000 above the $1 million Friends of the Council on Aging pledge and $500,000 from the Codman Trust. The board also voted 3-0 to join a four-town HATS letter on the Hanscom Field expansion DEIR before the May 10 deadline.
