Lincoln Select Board rescinds Agricultural Commission appointment over residency rule

LINCOLN — July 10, 2023 — Lincoln Select Board rescinds AgCom appointment, learns police chief will retire in December. Town Administrator Tim Higgins told the board July 10 that Police Chief Kevin Kennedy will retire Dec. 15 after 31 years, calling him "a better professional" than Lincoln could have hoped for over the past decade as chief. The board voted unanimously to rescind a recent Agricultural Commission appointment after discovering the appointee was not a Lincoln resident, a "30-year first," and unanimously appointed Kelsey Francher and Vincent Oliveri as student officers contingent on academy completion. Members also backed a $200,000 multi-year, four-town consultant contract for 250th anniversary planning, with Lincoln, Lexington, Concord and Arlington each contributing $50,000, and heard the Conservation Commission's plan to rename the long-misnamed Muster Field as Dakin Field.
