Lincoln School Committee approves K-8 improvement plan and CASE agreement

LINCOLN — October 8, 2015 — Lincoln School Committee approves K-8 improvement plan and signs CASE agreement with reservations. At the Oct. 8 meeting, Principals Sharon Hobbs (5-8) and Sarah McCormack (K-4) debuted a three-goal school improvement plan focused on consistent behavior expectations, collaborative teaching practices and a new K-8 community learning event. Member Peter Borden questioned why behavior topped the list when "we don't seem to have a big problem," and Hobbs replied that inconsistency, not severity, was the issue. The committee unanimously approved the CASE collaborative agreement on a fourth reading and directed Superintendent Becky McFaul to send the CASE board a memo flagging concerns about the unanimous-vote termination clause and inconsistencies with the dissolution language. Members also approved payroll of $709,285.61, accounts payable of $170,737.57, a revised capital list restoring instructional technology infrastructure funding, and a Campus Master Planning Committee charge expanded to 10 members with up to three at-large seats.
