Lincoln School Committee opens superintendent search as McFall announces retirement

LINCOLN — October 6, 2022 — Lincoln School Committee opens superintendent search as longtime leader Becky McFall plans retirement. The committee on Thursday confirmed McFall is stepping down after 11 years, posted a vacancy notice through state and national channels, and opened a community survey through Oct. 30 with focus groups starting Oct. 12. Consultant John Bracket of the Collins Center is to deliver a candidate profile by Nov. 17. Business and Finance Administrator Mary Ellen Norman reported 515 K-8 students as of Oct. 1, down from 524, with about 32 exits over the summer and roughly 14 to private schools. Members unanimously approved the FY24 capital list, the superintendent's annual plan, a weekly payroll of $880,438.06 and accounts payable of $170,888, and appointed Lucy Maltsby and Carol Carmody to three-year liaison terms. Bicycle and Pedestrian co-chair Bob Wolf pitched a 65-project, 30-year master plan, warning "a network's only as safe as its weakest link."
