Lincoln Select Board approves Codman Farm freezer and high tunnel

LINCOLN — April 3, 2023 — Lincoln Select Board approves two Codman Farm capital projects and sets a Sept. 30 town-wide charrette. The board voted 3-0 to let Codman Community Farm proceed with permitting for a 16-by-100-foot high tunnel greenhouse and an 8-by-40-foot refurbished container freezer, both farm-funded, after Farm Manager Pete Lowy committed three pallets of free cold storage to the Lincoln Food Pantry. Member Jim Hutchinson urged Codman to bring a five-year plan before its next Community Preservation Committee or Capital Planning Committee request, ahead of a roughly $150,000 educational pavilion designed by architect Nick Maynard. Chair Jennifer Glass and Town Administrator Tim Higgins proposed a Sept. 30 charrette to consolidate fall engagement on the Community Center project, climate action plan, IDEAR committee and Housing Choice Act work; resident Dilla Tingley warned the stations format "feels more like a carnival than a charrette." The Community Center Building Committee survey runs through April 21 ahead of a Nov. 4 special town meeting.
