Lincoln Select Board awards Community Center design contract to ICON Architecture

LINCOLN — March 6, 2023 — Lincoln Select Board picks ICON Architecture for Community Center design contract. The board voted 3-0 on March 6 to award the next phase of design work to Boston-based ICON, advancing toward a fall special town meeting on design choices and a March 2024 budget vote. CCBC representative Sarah told the board ICON edged finalist Maryann Thompson Architects on a "stronger written proposal," interview presentation and confidence the firm could meet a "somewhat prescriptive timeline." Town Administrator Tim Higgins said reference checks in Orleans and Oak Bluffs produced "rave reviews" for principal Ned Collier. The board also signed $430,000 and $80,000 water bond anticipation notes at 4.5 percent, appointed Leo Parnell of Fitchburg as a full-time dispatcher, and previewed planning warrant articles on accessory apartments, wireless siting and cluster development, plus Articles 29 and 30 enrolling Lincoln in the state's 10-town all-electric construction pilot.
