Lincoln Select Board endorses Municipal Empowerment Act, authorizes early voting

LINCOLN — February 10, 2025 — Lincoln Select Board backs Healey municipal bill and approves early voting for March election. The board voted 3-0 Monday to endorse the refiled Municipal Empowerment Act, citing permanent hybrid-meeting authority, school-municipal procurement parity and a roughly 65 percent Chapter 90 increase that would lift Lincoln's road and bridge allocation to about $440,000. Member Jennifer Glass drafted the letter; Town Administrator Tim Higgins added "vulnerable road user" safety projects from the five-year transportation plan as the local beneficiary. A second 3-0 vote authorized Saturday early voting March 22 and weekday early voting March 24-27 for the annual town election. The board also confirmed the March 29 town meeting warrant has shrunk from 36 to 34 articles after lighting petitioners withdrew, and reported Lincoln's OPEB liability is 40 percent funded — the 90th percentile statewide.
