Lincoln Select Board names Wentworth acting police chief after Kennedy arrest

LINCOLN — May 12, 2025 — Lincoln places police chief on leave after weekend arrest, names lieutenant as acting chief. Town Administrator Tim Higgins told the Select Board on May 12 that Chief Sean Kennedy was arrested Saturday by Westwood police in an off-duty incident at his home and would be arraigned in Dedham District Court later that day; the town placed him on administrative leave and will conduct an internal review. The board unanimously appointed Lt. John Wentworth acting chief "for continuity of operations," Higgins said. The board also approved a $475,000 Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School excess and deficiency transfer — $275,000 to operating and $200,000 to stabilization — opened the June 25 Special Town Meeting warrant with a May 27 citizens'-petition deadline, and authorized a draft letter of support for a feasibility study of a rail-with-trail path along the MBTA Fitchburg Line, which committee member Bob Wolf said would cost "well into six figures."
