Lincoln Select Board sets Dec. 2 special town meeting on community center

LINCOLN — May 22, 2023 — Lincoln Select Board sets Dec. 2 special town meeting for community center project. The board unanimously approved the date recommended by Town Administrator Tim Higgins after the Community Center Building Committee confirmed it would return to voters with three options at three price points developed by ICON Architecture. The board also appointed architect Andy Bennett as a Planning Board associate member and Mark Mastroianni to the Conservation Commission from a field of three applicants, accepted Chapter 44 Section 33B of the municipal relief act for FY23, and unanimously adopted amended Pride and Juneteenth proclamations. Member Jennifer Glass added language to the Juneteenth text acknowledging that "slavery was legal in Massachusetts until 1783" and that enslaved people lived in Lincoln. Police Lt. Sean Kennedy reported the MBTA has implemented a new "secondary crossing protection" protocol forcing trains to stop mechanically during signal work, following an April 2022 near-miss on Route 117.
