School Committee approves Hanscom Wi-Fi upgrade, requests $82,000 for Hartwell roof

LINCOLN — October 21, 2021 — Lincoln School Committee approves Hanscom Wi-Fi upgrade and seeks emergency reserve for leaking Hartwell roof. The committee unanimously authorized a $17,856.54 transfer from the Hanscom reserve to fund the district's share of a $29,760.90 wireless access point project, with $11,904.36 covered by E-Rate funds, Director of Technology Rob Ford reported. With no fall Special Town Meeting, members asked the Finance Committee to release $82,000 from emergency reserves to repair Hartwell's Pod C roof, damaged in an April storm, and authorized up to approximately $165,000 in operating funds for a Lincoln School electricity pre-purchase agreement. The committee also approved a $10,500 three-year contract with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees for a comprehensive policy review and supported retitling three administrative positions including elevating Preschool Coordinator Lynn Fagan to Principal for Early Childhood Programs. Administrator for Student Services Mary Emmons reported the district's special education rate at approximately 19.9 percent and 26 students placed out of district, with $755,911 in FY22 Circuit Breaker reimbursement.
