Select Board approves Codman education pavilion, weighs barn sprinkler funding path
LINCOLN — October 30, 2023 — Lincoln Select Board clears Codman pavilion as $500,000 barn sprinkler bill looms. The board unanimously approved Codman Community Farms' privately funded 20-by-40-foot education pavilion, with construction expected to begin in the spring. Executive Director Craig Nicholson said the farm's capital campaign is "in the low 900s" of a $1 million goal. The board then turned to a more expensive item: a dry sprinkler and fire-alarm system required by the building inspector and fire chief before large events can resume in the main barn, estimated at $250,000 to $500,000. Town Administrator Tim Higgins said a placeholder Community Preservation Committee application is in. The board also voted 3-0 to approve a four-town intermunicipal agreement for 250th anniversary consultant services, with Lincoln's $50,000 share drawn from a 2022 state bond bill allocation.
