Lincoln School Committee advances FY24 capital list led by vertical lift, security upgrades

LINCOLN — September 22, 2022 — Lincoln School Committee greenlights FY24 capital submission led by a vertical lift and $209,000 security package. Vice Chair Tara Mitchell ran the Sept. 22 meeting in place of Chair John MacLaughlin, and the committee voted 3-0 to let administrators file the prioritized list with the Capital Planning Committee. Business and Finance Administrator Mary Ellen Normen flagged four items that could push the FY24 budget past the 2.5 percent guideline: electricity costs tied to delayed solar panels, out-of-district special education tuition, pending teacher negotiations and a new bus contract. Member Adam Hogue, who sits on CapCom, urged staff to split the radios and cameras into separate requests, warning "we got cut like $50,000" scenarios are real. The committee also approved warrants of $805,183 in payroll and $2,133,517.28 in accounts payable, and accepted May 19 minutes 4-0.
