Lincoln School Committee re-elects McLaughlin chair, names Rajdav vice chair

LINCOLN — April 13, 2023 — Lincoln School Committee re-elects McLaughlin and turns to community center authority questions. The committee returned John McLaughlin to the chair by voice vote and named Kim Rajdav vice chair, then heard an extended Community Center Building Committee update from member Matina Madrick. McLaughlin urged the committee to determine its legal authority over the Ballfield Road site before taking positions, citing student safety: "If we have legal authority, I think we can have a conversation. If we don't, we can do like we did with housing. We can put together a letter and say, these are our concerns." Members also accepted a $1,000 anonymous gift for courtyard bench plaques, approved 12 employee children for K-8 and a full preschool roster, and approved April 4 warrants of $1,032,250.59. Math specialist Ellen Metzger reported the district's first Math Kangaroo pilot drew seventh and eighth graders coached by Faye Roop and joined 36,421 U.S. participants on March 16.
