Lincoln Select Board approves National Grid gas main project, names Staples to building committee

LINCOLN — July 15, 2024 — Lincoln approves gas main replacement and police promotions while plotting town meeting reform timeline. The Select Board, meeting July 15 with member Kim Bodnar presiding, unanimously approved a National Grid petition to replace roughly 1,505 feet of 1938-era 2-inch steel main on Old Farm Road and 1,035 feet on Blueberry Lane, subject to DPW Superintendent Chris Bibbo's seven review conditions. Water Superintendent Darren LaFallon told the board that Lincoln's well has tested below the new EPA 4 parts per trillion PFAS limit since August 2023, potentially sparing the town a treatment plant he estimated at "$10 to $20 million." The board appointed Todd Staples, a LEAP board member, to fill an at-large seat on the Community Center Building Committee, and promoted acting Lt. John Wentworth and acting Sgt. Dave Regan to lieutenant and sergeant of the Lincoln Police Department. A Sept. 16 forum on town meeting reform will inform a committee charge to be finalized at a special Sept. 30 meeting.
