Select Board determines public benefit for Old Town Hall sprinkler project, defers on schoolhouse

LINCOLN — October 20, 2025 — Lincoln Select Board hears Carroll School expansion, votes Old Town Hall public benefit. The board on Oct. 20 spent nearly an hour with Carroll School's design team on plans for a 220-to-240-student building on the Wayland campus, while Longmeadow Road neighbors including Colin Sullivan and Peter Borden told the board they fear traffic spillover and cited a "breach of trust" with the school. Head of School Renee Greenfield said "these are our plans right now." Traffic consultant Ken Cram projected 275 new morning trips; the site would hold 118 parking spaces. The board unanimously determined a public benefit for the Old Town Hall Corporation's CPA sprinkler application at 25 Lincoln Road but deferred a parallel determination for the Builders Club's Little Red Schoolhouse, where Chair Jim Hutchinson and member Kim Bodnar sought clarity on a zoning restriction capping use at 10 nights a year. Town Meeting Study Committee chair Kenny Mitchell reported that 29 percent of 566 survey respondents were dissatisfied with town meeting and 63 percent favored some voting-process change.
